Certain shapes and sizes are more economical than others. The cost increases with more intricate and contoured designs. You have the option of raised or recessed imprinting of the name/logo on the face of the bar.

What is a mold master?

A master is a casting of your mold design and is necessary in vacuum forming any plastic product. The master is a one-time set-up fee. Future costs are then limited to mold production only.

What does it cost to design a basic shape mold master?

Basic shapes with no contour edges start at $450 (square #013, circle #009, oval #005, or rectangle #001) and include a recessed or raised logo and/or imprint of your company name/event. The cost increases considerably for desgins that are sculptured or contoured. Custom sheet molds measure 10 x 10" and generally fit 3 to 4 molded cavities. The shape and contours of a design determine how many cavities (and ounces) we can place on a sheet. Standard size soap bars range from 3.5 to 6 ounces per cavity.

What is the minimum number of molds I must order?

Molds are $6.00 each for 50 of same design; $4.50 each for 100 of same design. Any quantity over 100 must be run in multiples of 100.

What image requirements are needed for a custom mold design?

We need a 300 dpi JPG, Adobe Photoshop, or Adobe Illustrator image. Camera ready artwork is preferred. There is a $40 per hour design fee if we need to touch up or make changes to an image. Having the right artwork makes all the difference in how your finished mold will turn out.

How long will it take to make a custom mold?

Lead time is approximately 4 weeks depending on our current production schedule. Lead time does not include shipping the finished molds.

How do I get started with a custom design?

Custom work must be prepaid in US funds. We accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Prices do not include the cost of shipping finished molds. Once payment is received, a computer generated image of the mold is designed and sent via email for signature approval. The approved image is then used to machine a master for your custom mold run.

What type of plastic is used for custom molds?

We use a clear PVC 0.04 mil plastic suitable for chocolate, melt and pour, cold process, and hot process soap making.
